Maintenance Engineer Job Overview
The Maintenance Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of all production processes and site facilities. Key duties include: Carrying out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance across mechanical, electrical, and control systems. Diagnosing and resolving faults quickly to minimise downtime. Supporting the installation, commissioning, and testing of new equipment and machinery. Working closely with production teams to maintain efficient workflow. Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives to optimise process performance. Maintaining accurate maintenance records and adhering to safety and compliance standards. Liaising with suppliers and contractors to coordinate maintenance support where required.
Maintenance Engineer Job Requirements
Preferably a 60/40 split with an electrical bias. Recognised engineering qualification (apprenticeship, HNC, ONC, or equivalent). Proven practical experience in both electrical and mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing setting. Strong fault-finding skills across electrical, mechanical, control, and instrumentation systems. Ability to work independently and as part of a small team, supporting production with planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance. Experience of safe working practices; Permit to Work or IOSH training desirable. Willingness to work on a two-shift rotation with occasional weekend work (paid at overtime rates). Advantageous experience with: Pumps (vacuum, diaphragm, centrifugal). Motors and inverters. Steam and condensate systems. Pipework (water, steam, air, pressurised, chemical). Compressed air and pneumatics. Demineralisation and reverse osmosis. pH control, batch controllers, load cells. Pressure systems and related regulations. Food-grade environments and HACCP systems.

Competitive salary package (£47,676.55 inclusive of a guaranteed loyalty payment each July and also a shift allowance of £4,490.88 would bring the total package to £52,167.43) Two-shift pattern (6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm).
