Overview
Join to apply for the Network Engineer role at IAG Loyalty.
We’re the people behind the global loyalty currency, Avios, and home to three ambitious, growing businesses; IAG Loyalty, British Airways Holidays and The Wine Flyer. We create brilliant experiences for our global customers through collaboration across these businesses. This is a hybrid role based in London, with at least two days per week in the office. You may also work from one of our other office or partner locations depending on your role and backlog.
The Opportunity Our Network Engineering team drives technology change and manages technical debt with a cloud-first strategy. We work closely with product and development teams to support growth and innovation across the business. This is a hands-on operational role with a strong focus on Network Security, NetDevOps, and Content Delivery.
We’re looking for a highly skilled Network & DevOps Engineer with expertise in Akamai (or a comparable CDN), Palo Alto Prisma Access (SSE), AWS networking best practices, and infrastructure automation with Terraform. The role blends advanced network engineering, cloud security, DevOps automation, and edge performance optimization to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing infrastructure for global applications. You will own secure connectivity, efficient content delivery, and cloud-native automation across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
This role is based in London. Our hybrid approach, The Blend, provides flexibility to work where you perform best while staying connected with your team. You will be required to spend at least two days per week in the office.
What You’ll Be Doing
Within the Tech Ops function of Core Engineering, you will support Product, Data, and AI-focused teams, ensuring cloud networking is well-architected and guardrails are consistently applied. You will design, implement, and maintain content delivery and web security solutions, including configuring Akamai-provisioned services such as Property Manager, Edge Logic Cloudlets, WAF, Datastream, AAP Policy, and PKI, and you will troubleshoot and resolve technical issues end-to-end. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align Akamai solutions with business needs, maintain policies, and implement changes from product, data, and application delivery teams. You will contribute to network-related CI/CD delivery across cloud and content delivery platforms and participate in working groups to deliver objectives and drive improvements. You will be responsible for network security, developing and maintaining policies and procedures aligned with audit requirements and industry standards such as ISO and PCI. This includes managing escalated network and firewall infrastructure support, firewall policy administration, branch LAN infrastructure maintenance and configuration, DNS management, and implementing firewall and LAN changes. You will also own network operations tickets and ensure they are handled efficiently.
What We’re Looking For You’ll be calm under pressure, confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels, and able to manage tight deadlines when restoring critical services. Strong communication, ITIL knowledge, and a collaborative mindset are essential. We’re looking for someone who embraces new technology and takes pride in delivering excellent service. Occasional travel and hands-on support with IT equipment may be required.
Key Skills & Experience
- Experience in Network engineering/DevOps, including Akamai CDN, Prisma Access SSE, and AWS networking
- Strong firewall expertise (Palo Alto / Check Point) and core routing & switching (Juniper, Cisco, OSPF, BGP, VLANs)
- DNS implementation & security, SSL/PKI, VPNs
- Cloud automation with Terraform and CI/CD (GitHub, Bitbucket)
- Content delivery & web security (Akamai Kona, AAP)
- Monitoring & troubleshooting (Datadog, packet analysis)
We Might Not Be Right For You If
- You only want to focus on your to-do list; we’re a small, high-performing team, and we help each other succeed.
- You value perfection over fast iteration and progress; IAG Loyalty moves fast, we learn as we go; our environment isn’t right for everyone.
- You’re looking to create but not build; this is an end-to-end role, comfortable owning your space from ideation through delivery and review.
If you think you have what it takes but don’t meet every point above, please apply. We’d love to chat and see if you could be a great fit.
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at IAG Loyalty
Our vision, to create the world’s most rewarding experiences, applies to our colleagues as well as our customers. We foster a culture where everyone feels welcomed and valued by embracing diverse identities, personal histories, and perspectives. This commitment makes IAG Loyalty a rewarding place to work and enhances our ability to solve problems and drive innovation. Please let us know if we can make reasonable adjustments to support your interview process.
