Overview

Resource Consultant - Public Sector IT & Professional Services at Lorien. Contract role for a CCNA qualified Network Field Engineer in Scotland. Initial 12 month contract outside IR35, a3400- a3450 per day.

Project context includes deployment of SD-WAN to 50+ sites in Scotland, upgrade of estate-wide LAN hardware/software (triage of site failures across 50+ sites), Wi-Fi system upgrade (new controllers, APs, expansion of coverage). More projects are in the works, including F5, data centre movement, management systems, and VPN changes.

Responsibilities

  • Support deployment of SD-WAN across 50+ sites in Scotland and participate in LAN/WAN hardware and software upgrades.
  • Triage and resolve site failures across multiple sites; upgrade Wi-Fi systems (controllers, APs, coverage expansion).
  • Collaborate on projects related to F5, data centre movement, management systems, and VPN changes.
  • Build, manage and maintain high-availability networks using Cisco devices; monitor network performance and health.
  • Implement load balancing and network monitoring solutions; participate in network design and optimization.
  • Work in partnership with IT and operational colleagues to deliver solutions.
  • Travel as needed; driver license required with expenses/mileage covered.

Qualifications

  • CCNA qualified Network Field Engineer; proven up-to-date experience with Cisco equipment (2960X/XR, 4500, 9000 series, Nexus switches).
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting physical network site infrastructure.
  • Experience building, managing and maintaining high-availability networks with Cisco devices.
  • Experience with Cisco Networking, Unified Communications, WLC, F5 VPN, F5 Silverline/XC, IPsec tunnel and Palo Alto Firewalls.
  • Experience running, using and implementing network monitoring solutions.
  • Experience designing load balancing services.
  • Ability to work in partnership with IT and operational colleagues.
  • Valid driver license and willingness to use own vehicle with expenses covered.
