It is a varied role that will see you involved in the development of design criteria, conductor selection, structure type selection, insulation coordination, and lightning performance.You will be involved in the development of typical OHL design deliverables – including line schedules, plan/profile drawings, staking tables, and special crossings design. You will conduct feasibility studies to assess the technical and economic viability of proposed projects and coordinate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., civil, structural) to ensure the overall integrity of the project.It's a great time to join the Energy Team at Stantec as we enter an important phase of growth. More information on Stantec’s Energy & Resources division can be found at the below link:Stantec Energy Transition - UKAbout you:You will ideally have a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, or Civil Engineering or industry experience if coming from a hands-on/construction pathway. CEng, IEng registration or working towards registration would be beneficial.You will have experience as either an Overhead Line Design Engineer or similar role working on various Transmission and Distribution projects. Preferably, you would have worked for either a Design Consultant, Design/Build Contractor, or an Asset Owner in your experience to date. You will have experience in using PLS-CADD to carry out both new OHL designs and modifications to existing designs. You will have experience of working with projects requiring UK design requirements.For this role, it would be beneficial if you bring a strong understanding of complementary T&D disciplines to OHL Design – for example, an understanding/experience of HV Plant design or HV Cable design or T&D Civil design.
