Overview

Overhead Line Design Engineer (Principal, Senior or Experienced) - Energy | Expression of Interest at Stantec. The UK&I energy sector is undergoing a seismic shift. Surging demand, stricter regulations, and ambitious net-zero goals are driving groundbreaking innovation. Here\'s your chance to be at the heart of it all.

We are open to speaking with ideally Principal/Senior or Experienced Overhead Line Design Engineers to explore future opportunities in line with our growth strategy to join our Transmission & Distribution team, with roles based in any of our UK offices.

As an Overhead Line (OHL) Design Engineer within our team, you will be involved in the delivery of a wide range of OHL projects – producing and reviewing technical documents in line with industry standards. It is a varied role that will see you involved in the development of design criteria, conductor selection, structure type selection, insulation coordination and lightning performance.

You will be involved in the development of typical OHL design deliverables – including line schedules, plan/profile drawings, staking tables and special crossings design. You will conduct feasibility studies to assess the technical and economic viability of proposed projects and coordinate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., civil, structural) to ensure the overall integrity of the project.

It\'s a great time to join the Energy team at Stantec as we enter an important phase of growth. If you are interested in furthering your career prospects and joining us on our journey, we would love to hear from you.

About You

You will ideally have a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural or Civil Engineering or industry experience if coming from a hands-on/construction pathway. CEng, IEng registration or working towards registration would be beneficial.

You will have experience as either an OHL Design Engineer or similar role working on various Transmission and Distribution projects. Ideally you would have worked for a Design Consultant, Design/Build Contractor, or an Asset Owner. You will have experience in using PLS-CADD to carry out both new OHL designs and modifications to existing designs. You will have experience of working with projects requiring UK design requirements.

Beneficial additional experience includes a strong understanding of complimentary T&D disciplines to OHL Design – for example HV Plant design or HV Cable design or T&D Civil design. A broad background with a specialism in OHL is advantageous.

Experience of developing OHL deliverables as well as managing OHL delivery and workload across multiple projects. You will be a team player with a passion for innovation and client service, with ambitions to tackle a range of engineering challenges as our teams grow in the sector.
