The Opportunity

The UK&I energy sector is undergoing a seismic shift. Surging demand, stricter regulations, and ambitious net-zero goals are driving groundbreaking innovation. Here's your chance to be at the heart of it all.

We are open to speaking with ideally Principal/Senior or Experienced Overhead Line Design Engineers in relation to exploring future opportunities in line with our growth strategy to join our Transmission & Distribution team, with roles to be based in any of our UK offices.

As an Overhead Design Line Engineer within our team, you will be involved in the delivery of a wide range of OHL projects – producing and reviewing technical documents in line with industry standards. It is a varied role that will see you involved in the development of design criteria, conductor selection, structure type selection, insulation coordination, and lightning performance.

You will be involved in the development of typical OHL design deliverables – including line schedules, plan/profile drawings, staking tables, and special crossings design. You will conduct feasibility studies to assess the technical and economic viability of proposed projects and coordinate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., civil, structural) to ensure the overall integrity of the project.

It's a great time to join the energy team at Stantec as we enter an important phase of growth. If you are interested in furthering your career prospects and joining us on our journey, then we would love to hear from you. About You

You will ideally have a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, or Civil Engineering, or industry experience if coming from a hands-on/construction pathway. CEng, IEng registration, or working towards registration would be beneficial.

You will have experience as either an Overhead Line Design Engineer or similar role working on various Transmission and Distribution projects. Preferably, you would have worked for a Design Consultant, Design/Build Contractor, or an Asset Owner. Experience in using PLS-CADD for new OHL designs and modifications to existing designs is essential. Experience working with UK design requirements is also preferred.

It would be beneficial if you bring a strong understanding of related T&D disciplines, such as HV Plant design, HV Cable design, or T&D Civil design. The ideal candidate will have a broad background with a specialization in OHL, which will be considered advantageous.

You should have experience developing OHL deliverables and managing OHL delivery and workload across multiple projects.

Finally, you will be a team player with a passion for innovation and client service, with ambitions to tackle a range of engineering challenges as our teams continue to grow in the sector.

If you think that you fit some but not all of the criteria above and believe you would be a good fit, we encourage you to apply. We are a team looking to grow together and will support your development areas to help us thrive together.
