Job Description
Due to continued growth within our Water and Nuclear Energy sectors, we are keen to speak with Planning Engineers (Practitioner, Senior & Principal Level) to discuss forthcoming opportunities within our Advisory & Digital Solutions Capability.
You will be joining a growing consultancy team working on a variety of contracts within multiple sectors. Reporting to the Discipline Lead for our Planning Capability, you will be working for one of the regional delivery offices. As a Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for all planning and schedule management activities within the corporate planning tool ensuring a true representation of the Capital Delivery Programme is established and maintained within the corporate planning tool.
This will cover both briefed and unbriefed schemes, from concept and initial studies to full funding and project initiation to benefits realisation and closure.
Utilising your knowledge and expertise in the Project Controls discipline you will be responsible for providing Project Control solutions and services to our clients. You will also be a key contributor to improving processes, procedures and tools utilised by the function.
As a Planning Engineer, you will ensure visibility and alignment with or clients business plans and Performance Commitments throughout. Close cooperation with the Programme Planners in the Programme Management team to ensure alignment of the overall AMP7 delivery is essential to ensure that any issues can be resolved or escalated as appropriate.
This role is home-based with client / site office-based attendance within the UK as per business needs - circa 2 days per week. Responsibilities
- Work with allocated delivery office to ensure the following data in P6 is as accurate as possible:
- Any unbriefed Value of Work Done (VOWD)
- Unbriefed and briefed SKFs
- Unbriefed and briefed milestones
- Work with allocated delivery office to highlight any data conflicts or concerns to ensure these are addressed.
- Work with Programme planners in the programme management team to ensure alignment of the overall delivery and that any issues can be resolved or escalated as appropriate
- Plan the activities that need to be undertaken by the Project team ensuring outage plans are visible and interlinked with the contractor programmes of work
- Review the contractor plans in line with the contract deliverables
- Ensure that all auditable milestones have the correct documentation in place prior to being claimed
Qualifications
Previous planning experience in a similar role ideally within Infrastructure Consultancy will be advantageous along with;
- Experience in applied programme delivery planning experience within the Water, Defence, Nuclear Energy or Transportation Sector.
- Membership of a recognised body (e.g. APM/ Practitioner MSP/ Prince2/P3O/PPSO/ITIL).
- A track record in hands-on delivery planning, utilising various planning tools, with Oracle Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project as a minimum.
- The confidence to manage teams and communicate at all levels, driving commitments and improvements to meet commercial and technical objectives and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to analyse data and present findings to senior teams.
- Eligibility to obtain Security Clearance. British National or UK Residency for 5 years.
