Plant Mechanic / Engineer

We are a well-established family business who have been operating in the North East region for over 40 years, specialising in Road Haulage & Plant Hire to companies within the construction, utilities and infrastructure sectors. Our Head Office is based at Staindrop and we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated, qualified and experienced Plant Fitter to join our growing team.
The main responsibilities of the Plant Fitter will include: -
To ensure plant machinery is maintained in accordance with manufacturers requirements, repairs carried out as necessary to ensure fit for purpose, trouble shooting, problem solving and use of diagnostic equipment. Check plant thoroughly on return from hires, pre-hire checks to be carried out prior to hires commencing and servicing of plant must be kept up to date in line with the company policies and procedures. Ensure that all driver defect notices handed to workshop personnel are remedied before the plant item is returned to service. Your work will involve working at the main depot and out on customer sites.
Examples of vehicles in the fleet are: - Excavators, Dump Trucks, Dozers, Loading Shovels, Telehandlers, Rollers, Dumpers, Crushers & Screeners.
Skills and experience required:
The successful candidate will have proven experience working in a plant mechanic/fitter role in the construction or related industry.
Current and broad knowledge of heavy plant machinery mechanical systems and maintenance practices.
Maintaining accurate records of maintenance work performed on equipment.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to work effectively under pressure either independently or as part of a team.
A customer focused approach, good communication skills to liaise with colleagues and clients .

Preferable - professionally recognised qualification in Plant Maintenance and repair NVQ Level 2 or 3.
A full UK Driving Licence is essential.
Competitive rates with overtime - Weekly pay dependant on experience from £17.00 to £21.00 per hour for the first 8 hours per day Monday to Friday, minimum 40 hours per week then overtime at time and half. There maybe Saturday work when required.
