Role Purpose and Responsibilities

The role is a key part of the end to end development and delivery of data, insights and analytics through a highly automated cloud native platform.

Skills

As a Platform Engineer you will join the core team responsible for the infrastructure, DevOps, data and security of the platform. You will have the opportunity to use and develop skills across all of these areas including:

• Implementing robust, scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
• Designing and implementing API integrations with third parties to serve accurate data in a robust and timely manner.
• Maintaining and improving the data platform to meet internal and external data requirements.
• Improving the Developer experience through automations, CI/CD and testing.
• Collaborating with the engineering and product teams to define data requirements, models, and architecture to support product features and data analytics.

Key Requirements

As the successful candidate, you may come from a wide variety of backgrounds - commercial and academic. What is important is that you understand and have worked with datasets in a cloud environment. You are conscientious and take pride in the quality of your work and you are keen to learn more, developing your craft to mastery.

It is not necessary to know a great deal about forests, carbon markets or our client base, but the purpose of Treefera is likely to be very attractive, as well as the opportunity to join a start-up working in a very strong team environment with talented people.

The key skills and aptitudes that would be useful for this role include:

• Experience in cloud and data engineering, with an understanding of AWS services and architecture.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Proficiency in Python and ideally at least one programming language (e.g. Rust, Java, Go).
• Experience in developing API integration with third-party services.
• Experience with databases, ETL processes, and data modeling.
• Experience with developing CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a passion for learning and sharing knowledge with others.

Also Desirable

Experience with IT/systems administration, systems security, compliance and data protection.
