Job Description:
We are currently working with one of the world's most respected consultancies to add a Principal Civil Engineer (Water Engineering) to their division in Basingstoke, within commuting distance of London. This role offers the chance to learn from top industry professionals and advance your career.
The Water Team is involved in high-profile infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas, working on projects for water companies, contractors, and government entities, including potable water and sewage networks, and treatment works at all stages of design and construction.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with engineers, hydraulic modellers, environmental scientists, and specialists to deliver high-quality projects.
- Proactively solving engineering problems to benefit communities.
- Participating in all design stages, from feasibility to operation and maintenance.
- Ensuring design compliance with standards and regulations, providing technical expertise.
- Managing delivery, budgets, and schedules for complex projects.
- Leading technical delivery and reviewing work for accuracy and timeliness.
- Liaising with clients on scope, proposals, and project updates.
- Managing junior staff, providing guidance, and conducting performance reviews.
- Mentoring team members and supporting their development.
The Water Team integrates skills from various disciplines to provide sustainable, cost-effective solutions. They work on a range of projects, from high-profile infrastructure to community-focused schemes, collaborating with water companies, private clients, and government agencies, including overseas projects.

The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience at the Principal level within the UK water sector.
- Chartered or working towards Chartered status with ICE, CIWEM, or similar.
- Experience with engineering assessments, calculations, and appraisals.
- Experience in designing wastewater/water treatment schemes or flood risk management.
