This role is based in the UK with a flexible hybrid working model.Become part of a global team delivering water infrastructure projects, from feasibility through design, operation, maintenance, and asset management. The team focuses on blue green infrastructure and nature-based solutions, with involvement in high-profile water and flood risk projects in the UK and internationally.ResponsibilitiesDeliver: Be responsible for the delivery of complex tasks and projects, manage the budget and programme, and work proactively and collaboratively to solve engineering problems to deliver benefits to communities.Expertise: Be involved in all design stages including feasibility studies, outline designs, detailed designs, and preparing reports and technical specifications. Ensure design compliance with applicable standards and regulations and provide technical expertise for interdisciplinary analyses.Collaboration: Liaise with clients to develop scope and price proposals and communicate project progress. Work with teams of engineers, hydraulic modellers, environmental scientists and technical specialists on drainage and flood risk projects in the UK and overseas.Leadership: Lead the technical delivery on projects and review work to ensure timely and accurate results.Develop: Undertake line manager responsibilities for junior staff, provide guidance and performance evaluations, mentor them (technical work and ICE / CIWEM), and manage their input into projects.Here’s what you’ll do: lead a team of talented engineers and shape the future of water infrastructure within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team.QualificationsWhat we’re looking for:Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or equivalent) or demonstrable equivalent experience.Proven experience in the delivery and design of sustainable drainage or nature-based solutions at Principal level.Experience in leading project teams or sub-teams and mentoring/training junior staff.Chartered/Incorporated or working towards this with a relevant institution (e.g., ICE, CIWEM).Experience of undertaking engineering assessments, options appraisals, engineering calculations and/or economic appraisals.Experience of outline and/or detailed design of flood risk management / drainage schemes.Benefits and EnvironmentJoin a global team offering career development opportunities, technical practice networks, AECOM University, volunteering days, and a flexible hybrid working model.
