The Role
We are seeking a Principal Consultant Engineer within our Global Professional Services organization who will be based in Reading, UK. The person’s responsibility will be to provide consulting services to oil refineries, petrochemical and gas plants globally with a focus on the deployment of Aspen Tech’s planning and scheduling solutions. This is a unique position for an exceptional engineer to implement projects that will help our clients utilize their assets optimally and contribute to sustainable development. The Principal Consultant will execute project work from conception to the finishing stage and would be required to travel occasionally, which could be within the country or international.Your Impact
- With your experience in either refining and/or petrochemical economics, operations, production planning, scheduling, process engineering, energy conservation, configuration-analyses, oil trading, or similar roles, you will contribute to the development and enhancement of planning and scheduling models.
- Understand supply-chain optimization requirements for the project and develop technical documents such as Functional Design Specifications, Detailed Design and Site Acceptance Test Documents.
- You will lead and drive the projects through completion while working in collaboration with Aspen Tech’s internal project team and client’s team members.
- Collaboration is a key value of AspenTech, and you would be coordinating across multiple teams involving both technical and commercial aspects of the project.
- Collaborate with Product Management and R&D in ongoing development and testing of supply-chain suite of products.
- Provide training or facilitate formal training classes on AspenTech supply chain suite of products.
- With your business acumen, you would participate in development of commercial proposals.
What You'll Need
- BS (Bachelor’s) degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or Petroleum Engineering.
- 8 to 12+ years of professional experience in the oil and gas industry, with an in-depth technical understanding of crude, gas, NGL and refinery and/or petrochemical processing units.
- A strong aptitude for problem-solving is the key requirement for this role. Must have a curiosity for continuous self-learning across a wide spectrum of evolving technologies and figuring out the best solution for our clients.
- Experience with implementation of planning and scheduling models for oil and gas industry using AspenTech Petroleum Supply Chain suite (APS, PIMS, Aspen Unified) or similar products.
- Some experience or familiarity with MS SQL Server or other databases is expected.
- Experience with systems integration or a background in technical programming (.Net, Javascript, GraphQL, using Excel macros) are a plus.
- Must be a team player and an ability to build long-term relationships, both with internal and external stakeholders.
- Be confident, capable and possess an ability to lead technical role in the projects. Should preferably have demonstrated leadership capabilities in previous endeavours.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills. Fluency in English, written and verbal. Bi-lingual skills would be an added advantage.
- Ability to travel (typically not more than 20% on a calendar year basis).
