We are recruiting for aPrincipal Design Engineerto join a dedicatedResearch & Development teamfocused on the development and maintenance ofmedium and high voltage (MV/HV) cable products.The RoleThis is a senior technical position within a specialised R&D function. Youll act as a technical authority, leading the design and development of MV/HV cable systems used in offshore wind and hybrid power umbilical applications. The role involves setting and maintaining design rules, technical standards, and documentation, while supporting cross-functional teams and contributing to the companys product innovation and lifecycle management.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and deliver R&D projects related to MV/HV submarine cables.Develop and maintain cable design rules and technical documentation standards.Perform detailed cable design calculations and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.Provide technical support across the product lifecycle, including risk assessments, specification reviews, and resolution of complex technical queries.Drive the integration of new technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance product quality and efficiency.Essential RequirementsDegree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or Physics), with Chartered Engineer status or eligibility.Extensive experience in high voltage submarine cable design, particularly within offshore wind or oil & gas sectors.Deep understanding of cable construction, ratings, manufacturing, installation, and operation.Familiarity with industry standards such as IEC and CIGRE.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).JBRP1_UKTJ
