As MWH Treatment embarks on its new journey as one of Northumbrian Water’s (NWL) capital delivery partners (part of NWL’s new Living Water Enterprise Organisation), we are looking to strengthen our Engineering team with a Principal Mechanical Engineer. Based predominantly in the Essex & Suffolk region, you will report directly to the Regional Discipline Lead (Mechanical) or the Senior Design Manager. This role will necessitate traveling to other MWH regions initially to embed and support your career within the MWH Treatment culture.
Our programme of work, across a variety of water and wastewater schemes, is expected to be in the region of £280M.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Reporting to Design Managers, Technical Discipline Lead, Regional Discipline Lead, and Engineering Manager.
- Producing complex design layouts that are cost-effective, meet the requirements of the specification, and can be constructed and commissioned effectively.
- Producing and checking all design deliverables including specifications, schedules, drawings, and calculations.
- Working alongside other disciplines for the development of site/plant 3D models.
- Ensuring that standard designs & practices are utilized wherever possible.
- Delivering the design stage outputs of each project within the agreed timescale and budget.
- Coordinating design outputs across all technical disciplines.
- Providing estimates and feedback for the Proposals department.
- Establishing working relationships with construction staff and supply chain representatives to promote buildability and supply chain efficiency in design outputs.
- Working according to procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the department.
- Assisting in developing, monitoring, and reviewing procedures and processes.
- Writing, updating, and monitoring efficient procedures to aid the smooth running of the department.
- Ensuring coordination of designs with all other disciplines internal and external to MWHT to benefit the entire contract.
- Maintaining files and records throughout the duration of contracts.
- Assuring customer satisfaction.
- Chairing Operability and Maintenance workshops with the Client to review solutions ensuring operability and maintainability of the design.
- Working within a culture focused on customer satisfaction as a key to achieving objectives, considering all beneficiaries of our processes.
- Assisting in supervising and developing staff.
- Ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
- Reducing waste from all departmental activities.
- Ensuring designs account for environmental issues.
- Ensuring designs fully comply with all CDM 2015 Regulations and health and safety requirements.
