We collaborate with leading water companies and contractors to deliver complex water and wastewater schemes. This role is a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer position within our multidisciplinary delivery teams, contributing technical leadership on water and wastewater capital projects regionally and across the UK.This role sits within our Resilience Global Business Area, focusing on protecting our natural environment and water resources while supporting sustainable growth for future generations.Role accountabilitiesSelf-starting, capable of working independently or as part of a team to produce, check, review, or approve complex mechanical design deliverables.Lead design and advisory services for new and existing water and wastewater conveyance and treatment assets.Ensure safety of yourself and others through design leadership and actions.Deliver technical outcomes on multi-disciplinary projects in a Design Lead capacity using modern digital design processes and resources.Identify and develop innovative, optimised technical solutions based on client needs and drivers.Lead and coordinate work with multi-disciplinary teams (process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, ICA).Build and maintain relationships with clients and delivery partners on technical, commercial, and progress matters.Ensure projects meet technical, legislative, quality, safety, and environmental standards and objectives.Mentor and supervise colleagues for professional development; line management and performance development for assigned staff.Capture key project and technical knowledge, including innovations.Promote MEICA team capability and achievements internally and externally.Qualifications & ExperienceDegree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.Chartered Engineer status and membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g., IMechE, IET, CIWEM).Significant experience delivering process plant systems on complex projects, preferably in water and wastewater.Experience with design and construct projects using digital design platforms.Demonstrated team leadership and collaborative behaviors.Feasibility to detailed design stage delivery experience.Why Arcadis?We empower everyone to be their best, using a skills-based approach to enable diverse career paths and maximize impact.
