Principal Mechanical Design Engineer (Water), Cumbria
We are currently recruiting multiple Principal Mechanical Design Engineers (Water) for various long-term frameworks across the UK.
RPS, in partnership with Tetra Tech, has secured a £100 million framework from United Utilities to enhance river health in Northwest England. This 10-year program aims to optimize projects, develop solutions, and deliver sustainable water services.
About The Team:
Our Water Consulting team comprises Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts supporting asset management and operational strategies for UK water industry clients. We work on prestigious AMP8 programs, offering long-term career growth.
About You:
You should have experience in producing technical specifications, designing pumping and aeration systems, and collaborating on design reviews. Strong communication skills and knowledge of water treatment processes are essential.
Your Responsibilities:
- Participate in all project phases from feasibility to construction support.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders including clients, contractors, and design teams.
- Mentor junior staff and ensure technical quality of designs.
- Review and produce technical drawings, reports, and specifications.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, preferably with water industry experience.
- Proficiency in pump design, P&ID creation, and specifications.
- Knowledge of CDM regulations and contract management.
- Ability to travel and inspect sites as needed.
Qualifications:
- IMechE accredited degree; postgraduate qualifications advantageous.
- Chartered status or working towards it.
