Overview

Principal Mechanical Engineer - Water Sector. This role can be based at locations including Bristol, Cardiff or Exeter in the South West or Birmingham, Derby or Redditch in the Midlands. You will be involved in the full project life cycle, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design and construction support, including site surveys and investigations. This role entails leading mechanical design for infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects, such as water and wastewater treatment plants, conveyance systems, pumping stations, and more. You will collaborate with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, clients, supply chain partners, contractors, planners and other stakeholders, and you will mentor more junior engineers within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design for infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects within the water sector, including water/wastewater treatment plants, conveyance systems, pumping stations, and related facilities.
  • Work across the full project lifecycle from feasibility to construction support, including site surveys and investigations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, clients, supply chain partners, contractors, and planners to deliver positive project outcomes.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers within the team.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant subject; ideally Chartered status or working toward Chartered status.
  • Experience in detailed design within the water industry; background with delivery contractors is beneficial.
  • For the right candidate, opportunities to take on line management responsibilities; previous line management experience is considered.
