Description Our client is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Manchester. This is a senior-level role within a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, offering the chance to lead on a diverse range of projects across residential, commercial, healthcare, science and research, and mission-critical sectors. The successful candidate will take responsibility for delivering innovative designs, managing client relationships, and driving the performance of project teams while contributing to the ongoing growth of the business. Experience The successful candidate will be an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a proven track record of delivering complex projects within a consultancy setting. You will bring strong technical knowledge across all core mechanical services, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning, along with proficiency in relevant design tools such as Revit and AutoCAD. Previous experience working in multi-disciplinary environments will be essential, as will the ability to coordinate with complementary disciplines such as acoustics, fire engineering, and modelling. A strong client-facing background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to mentor and lead teams will be critical to succeeding in this role. Job Responsibilities Lead the design and delivery of mechanical engineering projects across a range of sectors
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and stakeholders
Define project briefs, take ownership, and ensure profitable, high-quality outcomes
Manage, mentor, and support the development of junior engineers and team members
Oversee project costs, resources, and delivery schedules, reporting to senior management
Maintain technical accuracy and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations
Contribute to business development activities and bid preparation
