Job Description:

Principal Mechanical Engineer Building Services (UK /Hybrid)
Location: London, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, or another major UK city
Type: Full-Time | Permanent

We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead and deliver innovative building services design solutions on high-profile projects across the UK and internationally. This is a key leadership position within a forward-thinking consultancy known for its technical excellence and commitment to sustainable, human-centred design.

In this role, you will take responsibility for mechanical design across a variety of sectors including commercial, education, healthcare, and mixed-use developments. You will work closely with clients, architects, and fellow engineers to shape design strategies from concept through to delivery. Your leadership will guide multidisciplinary teams, and you will play a vital role in mentoring and developing junior staff.

You will be expected to manage client relationships, oversee technical quality, and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget. A strong understanding of sustainable design, energy-efficient systems, and compliance with industry standards is essential. You will also contribute to internal initiatives, technical reviews, and continuous improvement processes.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering and be a Chartered Engineer or actively working towards chartership. A minimum of eight years' experience in a building services consultancy environment is required, with proven ability to lead complex mechanical design work and coordinate across multiple disciplines. Strong communication skills and proficiency in relevant software such as Revit and IES are essential.
In return, you will join a collaborative and technically driven team, working on landmark projects that make a real impact.

The company offers flexible hybrid working, excellent opportunities for progression, and a comprehensive benefits package. This is an opportunity to contribute to a culture of design excellence and help drive innovation in sustainable building services engineering.
