Principal Design Engineer (Mechanical) \n\nLocation: Birmingham | Hybrid working available\n\n We are seeking a Principal Design Engineer (Mechanical) to play a key role in delivering innovative water and wastewater solutions across the UK and Ireland. This is a client-facing position offering the chance to guide projects from concept to completion and support the development of the next of engineers.\n The Role As Principal Design Engineer (Mechanical), you will:\n \nLead and mentor a team of junior engineers across multiple offices. \nDrive the mechanical design of water projects, including:\n \nWastewater treatment \nClean water treatment \nIndustrial wastewater solutions \nBiosolids treatment \nOversee design and project management from initial concept through to delivery.

\nProduce calculations, drawings, specifications, and detailed design reports. \nContribute to HAZID/HAZOP and LOPA studies. \nLead energy efficiency initiatives and balance-of-plant design.

About You We’re looking for someone who brings both technical expertise and leadership skills. The ideal candidate will have:\n \nDegree (BEng/MEng) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline. \n7+ years of relevant post-graduate design experience.

\nChartered Engineer (CEng) status with a relevant professional institution. \nProven background in the water industry. \nStrong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
