Working primarily in the UK water market, MMB provides the feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning services needed to keep water flowing and wastewater treated. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the process functions throughout the lifecycle of various projects, from concept design to commissioning, ensuring that all mechanical aspects are meticulously considered and integrated. Responsibilities
Lead and oversee the design, planning, and execution of process engineering on projects. Lead development of process design deliverables such as process models, mass balances, and control philosophies. Analyse site performance and identify risks that may impact project delivery. Develop mitigation to avoid negative impacts or exploit opportunities. Challenge the process selection and delivery effectiveness of initial solutions to ensure we always offer our clients the best value solutions. Identify opportunities for innovation to meet whole-life cost and net-zero drivers. Prepare and review designs for schemes ensuring all designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards. Produce and review technical specifications and procurement schedules; review supplier tender bids and technical submissions. Maintain broad knowledge of industry standards and legislation; appropriately challenge client specifications and defend solutions to complex problems. Identify opportunities to improve delivery processes, including development and implementation of standard designs, sustainable solutions, and digital tools. Act as technical checker on project documents and undertake technical reviews across teams. Manage interfaces and integration of the design with other disciplines and produce documentation. Collaborate with other engineers, specialists, clients, and project teams to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions. Work closely with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design stages and beyond. Supervise and mentor Graduates and Engineers to develop their knowledge and skills. Engage with the client, manage relationships, and support a one-team approach to achieving aims. Undertake site reviews to ensure buildability and integration within existing systems.
Qualifications and experience
Chemical Engineering or relevant Process Engineering degree, or related field Chartered member of a professional institution (e.g., ICE, IMechE) or equivalent experience Experience and understanding of water and/or wastewater unit processes and treatment plant; experience delivering process design for wastewater projects Experience with HAZOP studies as chair or team member (advantageous) Experience with water or wastewater, non-infrastructure or infrastructure projects Proven ability to deliver high-quality outputs in line with design, quality and safety standards Effective communication with team members and stakeholders Methodical problem-solving approach and proactive mindset Ability to deliver results within short timeframes, with strong task prioritisation and time management Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites

This role is employed by Mott MacDonald but will involve working across the joint venture with Mott MacDonald and JN Bentley colleagues.
