Principal Protection and Controls Engineer position with remote options in the UK/Europe. Salary – £70K-£80K (Permanent) or £500-£550 per day outside IR35.

Your New Role

As a Principal Protection and Controls Engineer, you will:

  • Design and develop protection systems for grid connection projects
  • Produce detailed design deliverables, including line diagrams, protection schematics, SCADA connections, and cable schedules
  • Coordinate with national grid, suppliers, and procurement teams to specify equipment and oversee sub-contractor coordination
  • Contribute to tender writing, cost estimation, and stakeholder management to support large-scale renewable energy projects

Your Background

Ideal candidates have a background in engineering with experience in protection and control design for grid-connected projects. You should be proficient in electrical design principles, equipment specification, protection panels, and SCADA systems, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders and manage multiple tasks effectively.
