About Noon
Noon's mission is to radically change the way people learn, with a primary focus on the Middle East, where the company has its roots and where the need and urgency to improve education are highest.
We have taught over 12 million students successfully with our remote learning products. Our next big challenge is to build a network of schools, supported by top teachers and driven by technology and innovation, to positively impact even more lives.
Why work at Noon?
- The opportunity to have a real impact on millions of students.
- A strong leadership and engineering team to learn from.
- A solid runway: we recently closed our Series B and have substantial recurring revenue.
About the role
We’re seeking proactive problem solvers eager to work across our entire tech stack. You are self-motivated, able to work independently, and possess a strong product sense, creating experiences that are not just functional but engaging and fun—after all, we’re building for teenagers! You have a growth mindset, a passion for continuous learning, and a drive to help others learn too.
Responsibilities
- Become the Subject Matter Expert for your area.
- Make tough technical decisions balancing velocity, serviceability, and sustainability.
- Set and maintain a high bar for software engineering practices – design, coding, testing.
- Mentor members across the software engineering organisation.
- Participate in the team’s on-call rotation.
- Collaborate with product, design, operations, and learning teams to understand requirements and articulate technical decisions and outcomes.
Requirements
- 8+ years' experience in backend development using Java/Spring Boot or equivalent.
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies (Kubernetes).
- Deep understanding of system software, especially distributed systems.
- Experience designing and delivering complex systems into production, and supporting them post-production.
- Empowering and mentoring is important to you and you love teaching your skills and approach to others.
- When you speak, people listen and trust your expert opinion. You inspire people to follow you thanks to your skill in your craft.
The interview process
Live Coding → System Design → Behavioural.
Benefits
In addition to a competitive base salary, we offer:
- Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
- Relocation to the UK including visa sponsorship
- Performance-based bonus
- 25 days annual leave and Christmas office closure days on top
- 5% contribution to your Pension Scheme
- Private Medical Scheme including Family cover
- Income Protection and Life Assurance to help you protect your future
About Diversity & Inclusion
We understand that everyone has a unique set of skills and experiences. If you’re passionate about making a real positive impact through education, even if you don’t meet all the requirements above, we encourage you to apply.
At Noon, we respect and value differences. We know that when people from different backgrounds and with different points of view work together, we create the most value – for our clients, our people, and society. We’re so lucky to live in a society where differences are celebrated, so we’d expect nothing less from our teams. That means whatever your race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender, this is a place to feel at home, express yourself freely, and make your mark. Noon is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of age, disability, gender identity, marital status, race, colour, ethnicity, religion, sex, national origin, or sexual orientation. We aim to be truly representative of the world and for each and every employee to feel respected.
