We are a long-established structural engineering consultancy with over 45 years of experience, specialising in domestic and small commercial projects. As a family-run practice, we are entering a new phase of investment and growth which has already exceeded expectations, creating the need to expand the team to meet increased demand. Our core focus is structural defect inspections, while also undertaking design work. We are supported by a network of 15–20 associate contractor engineers across London and South-East England, allowing us to provide a responsive and local service to our clients.
Role Overview
We are seeking experienced Principal Structural Engineers to work closely with clients, understand their structural needs, arrange and conduct site visits, deliver clear reports, drawings, and calculations, and provide peer-review support for other engineers’ work. This is a home-based position with flexibility to work three, four, or five days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess new enquiries, prepare quotes and invoices, and update the CRM system
- Carry out site surveys, designs, calculations, drawings, and reports
- Review and approve reports, drawings, and specifications prepared by other engineers as part of the peer-review process
- Take part in fortnightly management calls to discuss business performance and strategy
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng or equivalent)
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and design standards
- Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to produce professional reports and drawings
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, including formatting and layouts
- Access to a car and a valid UK driving licence
Desired Experience
- Previous team or staff management experience
- Familiarity with structural design software and CAD tools
