Overview

As a Principal Systems Engineer at Synoptix you will help guide the scope and direction of the engineering projects you work on. As an agile business, the principal engineer will be given the relative freedom to take ownership at the strategic level of the project. This involves talking to external stakeholders at a high level within the customer organisation and feeding back to the business within engineering management meetings. Internally to Synoptix you are seen as a technical authority and mentor to the early career engineers, with the ability to shape their future by passing on knowledge and experience and guiding them on customer project delivery.

Day to day tasks

  • Deliver technical consultant expertise on a variety of customer projects from air to sub-surface
  • Support Systems Engineering activity across the design lifecycle
  • Develop proposals and statements of work
  • Engage with customer representatives to identify opportunities and drive them through to delivery
  • Attend internal management strategy meetings
  • Guide junior engineers in project delivery as needed

Key Skills Required

  • Requirements capture, management and analysis
  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Systems integration
  • Verification and validation
  • Successful delivery of SE documentation
  • Knowledge of supporting toolsets (e.g. DOORs, JAMA, JIRA, Enterprise Architect, Cameo Systems Modeller, Rhapsody, MATLAB, Simulink)
