About the Role

To support Amentum’s worldwide $14B F25 workload and geotechnical projects within Defence, Nuclear Power, Environment, and Critical Infrastructure industries, we are seeking Engineering Geologists and Geotechnical Engineers at various experience levels, including:

• Engineering Geologist and Geotechnical Engineer
• Senior Engineering Geologist and Geotechnical Engineer (Chartered or approaching)
• Principal Engineering Geologist and Geotechnical Engineer (Chartered)
• Associate Director Engineering Geologist and Geotechnical Engineer (Chartered)

We operate under flexible working arrangements, with options for office-based and home working. Bristol is preferred, but other locations like Oxford, Reading, London, or Glasgow are also considered.

As a Ground Engineering Professional, you will manage ground risk through geotechnical assessment, analysis, design, and supervision across UK and international projects. Responsibilities include:

• Feasibility studies, value engineering, sustainability assessments
• Ground investigations, testing, data management
• Soil and rock characterisation and modelling
• Numerical and finite element analyses, including seismic and dynamic analysis
• Design of structures such as foundations, retaining walls, basements, earthworks, ground improvement, anchors, nails, etc.
• Technical guidance, supervision, bid preparation, stakeholder management

Requirements:

• Ability to work independently or in teams
• Strong technical knowledge in ground engineering, geology, soil and rock mechanics
• Knowledge of UK geotechnical standards (e.g., BSEN1997, BS5930, BS6031, BS8081) and international standards beneficial
• Experience with ground investigations, modelling, analysis, and design software
• Degree in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or equivalent
• Chartered status or relevant experience
