Principle Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principle Engineer to join a globally recognised aerospace company. This role offers the chance to work on development projects within a high-performance engineering team, supporting innovative product design. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage internal technical projects in line with strategic product development goals
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure effective project delivery
  • Provide technical guidance and develop internal engineering capabilities
  • Report to the Engineering Manager on all aspects of assigned projects including timelines, quality, deliverables, and costs
  • Support the preparation of proposals and participate in customer and supplier meetings
  • Coordinate team members working on specific programmes
  • Support and participate in product certification and qualification test activities
  • Prepare, review, and approve technical documentation including certification applications
  • Approve engineering drawings and modifications using CAD (Creo) and data management systems
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of engineering tools and processes
  • Identify opportunities for and lead continuous improvement initiatives
  • Participate in design reviews and other technical meetings
  • Ensure a safe working environment and compliance with all health and safety policies
  • Qualifications and Experience

  • BSc / BEng / MSc in Mechanical Design Engineering or similar
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (preferably Creo) and the ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles including materials, mechanisms, and electromechanical systems
  • Extensive experience in the design of electromechanical mechanisms, machines, and actuators
  • In-depth knowledge of BS8888 drawing standards and GD&T
  • Strong understanding of bearings, lubrication, and tight-tolerance design
  • Solid background in gear and actuation system design preferred
  • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing is advantageous
  • Experience in the design, testing, and certification is ideal
