Process and Tooling Engineer

Roc Search's client is seeking a Process and Tooling Engineer to support and improve manufacturing operations for ceramic production in Northampton. This role focuses on optimizing processes, ensuring product quality, and supporting production teams to achieve operational excellence. This role would suit someone with a background in Ceramics, Plastic Injection Moulding or Casting.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nDevelop and improve ceramic manufacturing processes including material preparation, injection moulding, and firing.
Drive efforts to increase yield, reduce defects, and minimize cycle time.\nProvide hands-on support to production teams, troubleshoot process issues, and implement effective corrective actions to maintain consistent throughput and quality.\nWork closely with quality teams to ensure processes meet customer requirements and comply with Quality Management System standards, including AS9100.\nLead initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to increase efficiency and reduce waste across the production line.\nCreate detailed tooling build instructions and coordinate with external partners during tool development. Specify and maintain equipment and tooling to ensure optimal function and safety.\nDevelop and maintain clear process documentation including work instructions and technical reports. Support training initiatives to ensure operational consistency.\nWork with R&D, production, and quality teams to support new product introductions and scale-up of new processes.\nEnsure compliance with safety protocols, including handling of ceramic powders and liquid resins.
Conduct risk assessments as required. \n\nSkills and Competencies:\n\nKnowledge of ceramics manufacturing processes, including material control and dimensional controls.\nProficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for designing tooling and fixtures.\nFamiliarity with Microsoft Office tools for documentation and reporting.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct root cause analysis.\nExcellent communication skills to collaborate across functions and present technical data clearly.\nMinimum of 3 years in similar role/industry.Salary:\n\n £46,000 - £50,000 per annum.\n\nPlease apply with the most recent version of your CV to be considered.\n\nPlease note that the client is unable to provide Visa sponsorship now or in the future
