Find your future at Revvity
We are seeking a talented Process Engineer to join our dynamic team of four multidisciplinary engineers, providing essential manufacturing support and driving New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts to support the projected growth of the site.
You will be assigned a primary instrument or group of products, taking ownership of understanding their design, build, test requirements, process flow, and systems. Working closely with R&D divisions (potentially on a global scale) and key business stakeholders, you will play a crucial role in transforming conceptual designs into cost-effective, high-quality manufacturing outputs. Once products are handed over to operations, you will provide ongoing engineering stewardship to ensure their continued success.
This position calls for a creative and analytical engineer with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes and proficiency in CAD. The ideal candidate will be proactive, collaborative, and capable of leading multifunctional project teams, both internally and externally, including consultants and suppliers, to drive the success of projects and products.
Your internal title will be Validation Engineer.
Responsibilities
Manufacturing Support:
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing operations teams, R&D, and other departments to ensure ownership of facility operations and the successful implementation of changes.
- Work with the engineering and manufacturing teams to translate product requirements into functional specifications.
- Build and evaluate prototypes to ensure design feasibility and product performance.
Team Leadership:
- Lead a project team of engineers, ensuring clear communication and coordination within the team.
- Plan and estimate engineering tasks, ensuring alignment with overall project timelines and goals.
- Develop and execute a risk management plan, identifying potential risks and creating mitigation strategies.
- Deliver on tasks, delegate responsibilities, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
- Ensure Mechanical Engineering deliverables are met and maintain oversight of the project's progress.
- Direct external consultants and suppliers, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
- Provide comprehensive project plans, including milestones, resources, activities, quality controls, and health and safety criteria. Conduct business risk planning and mitigation where applicable.
- Liaise with the New Product Design team on DFM (DfX), testing and prototyping of concept designs, new product development stage gates, and manufacturing timelines. Develop a clear feedback process to ensure manufacturing concerns are recorded through the ECN process.
Process:
- Assess technical risks and formulate effective risk management strategies, including analysis and evaluation programs to mitigate those risks.
Product Development:
- Contribute to the product development process, from initial analysis and design to testing, implementation, and documentation.
- Conduct design reviews and respond to feedback from the project team to refine and improve designs.
- Produce the required level of documentation to support product development and testing activities.
- Drive continuous improvement of mechanical engineering processes, promoting efficiency and innovation across the team.
Leadership:
- Demonstrable experience in leading small teams and managing external consultants.
- Ability to plan projects, allocate tasks, and monitor progress to meet deadlines.
- Formal leadership or management training with the ability to guide teams effectively.
General:
- Strong communication skills to foster successful interactions with team leaders, fellow engineers, and management.
- Self-motivated with a drive to stay updated on new technologies, market, and industry trends.
- Proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems, maintaining focus on commercial objectives and prioritizing work effectively.
- Willingness to work within structured development programs and take ownership of product delivery.
- Ability to critically assess engineering practices and define improvements to departmental procedures.
- A scientific background or interest in optical and chemical systems.
- Some business knowledge of the chemical analysis or related market sectors.
Travel:
- Both domestic and international travel is required for this role.
