Process Improvement Engineer - LEAN/Six Sigma -Wolverhampton

We are recruiting for an experienced and ambitious

Process Engineer

to drive efficiency, quality, and safety improvements at our

Wolverhampton

site. Reporting to the Senior Management Team, you will be the champion for

continuous improvement (CI) , leveraging

Lean and Six Sigma methodologies

to develop, optimize, and document manufacturing and assembly processes.

This role is critical for reducing cycle times, enhancing plant layout, and ensuring adherence to stringent quality standards across all operations.

Key Responsibilities

You will own the continuous improvement life cycle from analysis to implementation and training.

Process Optimisation & Documentation:

Develop, document, and maintain

all manufacturing methods and processes, including updating and issuing manufacturing documents. Analyse and improve processes using

LEAN and Six Sigma methodologies . Design, implement, and train operatives on detailed

Assembly Work Instructions (Method Sheets) .

Efficiency & Layout: Utilise

LEAN tools

(e.g., SMED) to significantly reduce set-up times in the Machine Shop and Assembly areas. Own, develop, and optimise the plant floor layout , including standardising floor-marking and support all departments. Conduct

time studies

and use Industrial Engineering tools to quantify labour and establish headcount templates.

Quality & Problem Solving:

Collaborate with the Quality team to develop and implement

Quality Control Plans

for critical features and drive appropriate levels of inspection. Anticipate and safeguard against potential process and quality problems, conducting random quality audits. Lead

A3 investigations

and

3C Root Cause analysis

to permanently solve process issues.

Project Management & Coordination:

Manage projects aligned with plant strategic direction. Coordinate with the Toolroom to create necessary fixturing/tooling. Act as the sites

ergonomic resource . Assist in evaluating

Design for Assembly (DFA)

and monitor line adjustments to support capacity changes.

What You Will Already Have

We are looking for a practical problem-solver with a strong technical background.

Education & Certification:

An Engineering qualification is highly preferred.

Lean Green Belt or Black Belt certification is preferable. Experience (Minimum 2 years Preferred): High-volume assembly and packaging environments. New product introductions (NPI) and process improvements. Experience with

error proofing , tool and fixture design, machine design, and process control. Familiarity with product costing/routings and

cellular manufacturing .

Technical Skills:

Detailed problem-solving

and troubleshooting capabilities. Proficiency with

CAD software

(Solidworks preferred).

Communication:

Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of management and lead cross-functional activities.
