Overview
Process Safety Engineers role at Arthian, based from our Glasgow office. We are seeking to recruit process safety engineers to join our expanding team based from our Glasgow office.
We are looking for candidates with experience in delivering DSEAR/ATEX hazardous area classification and risk assessments in industry and/or consultancy settings. The successful candidate(s) will support the delivery of a diverse range of process safety projects for our client base across sectors including spirits, food & drink, manufacturing and life sciences, and will contribute to a growing team that operates across the UK.
You will work as a member of the Process Safety Team within the Safety Group and will be involved in all aspects of professional input to process safety consultancy projects, contributing to client satisfaction, company performance and sales targets. The role offers hybrid working; IT equipment and software/services will be provided to facilitate efficient home working.
The position may require travel (including occasional overnight stays) in Ireland, the UK and overseas depending on project requirements. A full UK or ROI driving licence with a clean driving record is required, as well as a valid passport and photo ID for air travel. Responsibilities
- Support delivery of DSEAR/ATEX hazardous area classification and risk assessments in industry and/or consultancy settings.
- Contribute to a diverse range of process safety projects for clients across the spirits, food & drink, manufacturing and life sciences sectors.
- Work as part of the Process Safety Team within the Safety Group and provide input to process safety consultancy projects, contributing to client satisfaction, company performance and sales targets.
- Collaborate in a flexible, supportive team environment and progress skills within a growing UK-wide team.
- Travel may be required (including occasional overnight stays) in Ireland, the UK and overseas depending on project requirements. Company pool cars are available for business travel; a full UK or ROI driving licence with a clean record and a valid passport are required for travel. Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK and Republic of Ireland.
Qualifications
- Honours or Masters’ Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent). Applicants with a post-graduate MSc in Safety & Risk Management or Safety, Risk & Reliability Engineering will also be considered.
- Membership (associate or above) of a related professional institute such as the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) or an equivalent body.
Experience & Skills
- Experience delivering DSEAR/ATEX hazardous area classification and risk assessments.
- Desirable: applying process safety principles within chemical/industrial/high-hazard environments (preferably in a consulting role).
- Desirable: supporting the preparation of COMAH safety reports, hazardous substance consent applications, major accident prevention policies and ALARP justifications.
- Desirable: supporting delivery of process safety studies including HAZOP and HAZID, and a broad understanding of current UK health, safety and environmental legislation.

- Strong report writing skills and ability to convey complex information in concise technical reports and deliverables.
- Self-motivation and high levels of initiative.
Travel and Work Arrangements
