Our dynamic Grid Software business is at the forefront of sophisticated metering and data acquisition solutions for the power industry. Our groundbreaking portfolio combines advanced hardware and software solutions, solving complex challenges in network monitoring, power quality, and generator performance.

As part of our team, you will undertake and champion the installation and commissioning of high accuracy energy metering systems. Typically located in transmission substations owned and operated by our clients, often on an offshore platform. The works and services delivered by this function are associated with new large electrical grid connections, upgrades to existing metering systems or reactive visits to rectify faults.

Please note: This role will require frequent travel to various remote sites across the UK, often offshore and possibly abroad.

What part will you play?

  • Lead on-site installation and commissioning works of new metering systems and associated solutions
  • Perform SAT and SIT procedures coupled with customer witness testing requirements
  • Diagnosis of electrical/metering/communications faults using portable test equipment
  • Ensure that installed equipment meets the health and safety and local safety requirements
  • Take ownership of project documentation to ensure alignment and completion to expected standards (including RAMS, Commissioning and Site reports)
  • Provide support to the broader project team in tracking work progress, ensuring that development, design, construction, testing, and financial objectives are achieved
  • Ensure that the technical standards are maintained in all aspects of project work

What does it take to be successful in this role?

If you\'re an innovative problem-solver with strong project management capabilities, excellent communication skills, and a passion for engineering, we want to hear from you. A full UK driving license is critical for this role.

  • Knowledge and experience with CT metering (LV/HV)
  • Experience of electrical instrumentation and control systems (with a focus on energy metering)
  • Good knowledge of power industry, high voltage transmission and distribution networks
  • Experience in ethernet connections, programming of switches & routers, SCADA
  • Experience with communication protocols such as Modbus, MQTT, IEC61850, DNP3, DLMS
  • Strong understanding of Electrical Safe Systems of Work

Advantageous:

  • Electrical engineering or systems engineering technical background desired
  • Knowledge and experience of high accuracy metering advantageous (CoP1, CoP2)
  • Relevant training and qualifications already held (BS 7671 17th/18th Edition Regulations, EUSR, CCNSG, National Grid Persons, GWO’s, HUET)
