It is preferable that the candidate have experience of pumps within nuclear applications, including experience with reactor coolant pumps.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Design and Technical Expertise
- Develop and deliver pump designs in accordance with ASME and ISO standards.
- Apply detailed knowledge of pump characteristics, curves, and system interactions to inform design decisions.
- Conduct mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical analyses to evaluate design performance and maturity.
- Define pump-specific requirements and generate technical specifications, including design qualification criteria.
- Use systems engineering and optioneering techniques to select optimal design solutions.
- Evaluate design maturity against evolving project requirements and associated risks.
- Interpret and manage tasks within complex programme plans, ensuring timely and quality delivery.
- Produce high-quality design reports, technical outputs, and design justifications.
- Review technical and commercial bids, providing recommendations for supply chain selection.
- Collaborate with suppliers to develop design and manufacturing solutions that meet project needs.
- Assess vendor documentation, including drawings and calculations, ensuring compliance and quality.
- Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Develop and review pump test specifications and support Verification & Validation activities.
- Contribute to through-life planning for pump maintenance, including schedule and cost generation.
- Support the development of internal capability and toolsets for design validation and acceptance.
- Present complex technical and safety case arguments to diverse audiences, including senior management.
- Facilitate technical discussions with customers, suppliers, and regulators.
- Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and power station islands to promote standardisation.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate own work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrate a proactive, positive attitude and a willingness to support various aspects of the business.
- Thrive in ambiguous and evolving environments, contributing to a culture of learning and openness.
