Halian is proud to partner with a leading innovator in medical device development to recruit an R&D Project Engineer to join an expanding R&D Team as the business looks to innovate new medical devices. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity based in Hampshire with hyrbid working, offering a dynamic and collaborative environment focused on cutting-edge healthcare solutions.

About the Role

As R&D Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of both internal and client-driven medical devices. From concept through to commercialisation, youll be responsible for translating client requirements into practical engineering solutions, supporting prototyping, design verification, validation, and manufacturing readiness. You will work closely with cross functional teams and clients to ensure designs are innovative, manufacturable, compliant with global regulatory standards, and capable of scaling efficiently into production, acting as a technical bridge between concept and manufacture and contributing toward the creation of new and novel IP.

Key Responsibilities

Work on the design and development of medical devices from concept to launch. Translate client needs into innovative engineering solutions. Support design verification and validation activities. Ensure compliance with ISO 13485 and other relevant standards. Maintain accurate and comprehensive technical documentation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely project delivery. Conduct risk assessments and manage project risks independently.

Ideal Candidate

Proven experience in medical device development or a similar regulated industry. Understanding of ISO 13485 and medical device directives/standards. Ability to use Solidworks (or similar CAD package) to model and design components, sub-assemblies, and systems. Experience in creating prototypes and proof of concept testing, materials evaluation and/or lab testing. Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams. Experience in design transfer from R&D to manufacturing.
