• Position Type: Contract-to-Hire (3-month contract with potential for full-time conversion)
• Salary: $3,000 USD/month
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm Pacific Time but flexible

Their mission is to revolutionize this space using robotics, AI, and genetic engineering to create 21st-century research labs that improve efficiency, reproducibility, and animal welfare. Their proprietary system enables accurate, cost-effective animal tracking through a blend of classical computer vision, deep learning, and novel ID tagging technology. Their product integrates seamlessly into existing infrastructure, allowing for large-scale deployment of smart cages. They aim to accelerate drug discovery, improve therapeutics, and enhance human health span.

Job Overview

We are looking for a Software Application Engineer to help build and maintain the infrastructure that powers the company\'s platform. This is a remote role with a 3-month contract and the opportunity to transition into a full-time position based on performance. You will work on backend infrastructure, software maintenance, debugging, device configuration, and feature development. You’ll collaborate closely with our engineering team to ensure smooth operations and high-quality software solutions. Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend software infrastructure.
• Optimize and troubleshoot backend systems.
• Implement and refine solutions using a variety of Python libraries.
• Collaborate with the engineering team on software development.
• Sugest improvements to the product and infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot software failures and implement fixes.

Note: The hired candidate will be subject to a 1 month probationary period to ensure they are the right fit for the company and capable of performing the tasks.

Qualifications, Skills and Key Competencies

• Must Have:
• Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 1+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• OR Master’s degree with 6+ months of industry experience.
• Ideally some computer vision/ML experience.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python (scripting, debugging, and development).
• Basic knowledge of Ubuntu, terminal usage, and Git.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, quick learner, adaptability, initiative-driven, and strong problem-solving abilities.
• Other: Ability to work in California’s timezone (PST/MST overlap required) and ability to commit to a 3-month contract.

• Bonus Skills: Experience with DevOps, PyTorch, Computer Vision, SQL, and AWS.
