Overview AVL United Kingdom Ltd offers a job in United Kingdom (GB) as Resident Engineer (Darlington). We are looking for a driven individual to support our dynamic Service team. AVL UK Limited delivers high tech solutions to support the most advanced automotive, motorsport and commercial vehicle development programs. At AVL UK ITS, we offer advanced technical solutions, then integrate them into the facilities and operations of our customers. Our projects range from single system upgrades up to complete development facilities, working with automotive, Formula 1, commercial vehicle and other high technology customers. Contract values range from tens of thousands of pounds to over £20 million. Responsibilities
Be the primary contact for customer concerns and issues. Maintain, repair, calibrate and service AVL or competitor equipment at the customer site in Darlington, minimising customer downtime. Carry out front line fault analysis and, where possible, repair of AVL equipment on site in line with contractual obligations and instructions from the Hotline co-ordinator. Take ownership of site activities following installation and bring AVL test plant and support services into operation. Document and record all parameters and activities and produce Calibration Protocols and certificates in line with AVL processes. Ensure service of AVL equipment is carried out safely and be involved in risk analysis and enforcement of safe working practices at all times. Keep detailed daily records of all work and, when required, produce detailed technical reports using AVL software tools. Use e-case to report, update and escalate on-site issues. Maintain and develop personal skills logs to suit the customer installed base, with support from AVL-UK management and the AVL Skills Initiative. Establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and customers. Represent AVL professionally on customer sites. Provide technical Hotline phone support to the service department for the resolution of site-related problems when requested. Work within AVL-UK processes and procedures and contribute to the continuous improvement of the AVL Customer Services Department. Be flexible in the working role and assist in any AVL-related work issues within individual skill sets. Meet deadlines and complete all internal paperwork within the required time frame set by SVM. Carry out any other duties as reasonably required commensurate with the nature of the job and level of responsibility.
Your profile Requirements of the Job / Experience and requirements for the role
Educated up to minimum of HND level in mechatronics or equivalent demonstrated experience. PLC experience is a bonus. Automotive or Electrical Engineering background is preferred. Excellent diagnostic skills and ability to work unsupervised under pressure. Good interpersonal skills with all levels of customers and staff. Full Driving Licence. Team player and willing to accept responsibility within the role.
