Leonardo has a number of exciting and immediate opportunities for RF Engineers across their sites in Southampton, Basildon, and Bristol. We are looking for experienced RF Engineers for Intermediate, Senior, and Lead Engineering roles.

About the Role
You will collaborate with industry-leading engineers in the development of our RF products. Your responsibilities include supporting the development of new and existing products and providing solutions for our customers. Daily tasks include:
- Research and development of low Technology Readiness Level (TRL)
- Investigating and defining RF/Communication system architectures and protocols
- Planning and conducting studies across various communication technologies including SDR, RF, IP
- Supporting system integration and testing activities
- Supporting verification of system requirements
- Capturing stakeholder and system requirements
- Modeling components of the system design
Depending on experience, you may lead technical activities and initiatives. Senior/Lead Engineers will have opportunities to act as Design Authority throughout the project lifecycle and mentor other engineers.
About You
You will have proven experience as an RF Engineer, either through industry or advanced academic research. A relevant education is preferred but not necessarily required. Successful RF systems engineers will be able to apply their engineering experience, which can be built upon through training, teamwork, and mentoring.
For senior/lead engineers, we can tailor roles and responsibilities based on your experience.
Attributes include:
- Experience with communication systems, IP communication, modulation techniques, and performance
- Experience with telecommunication (2G/3G/4G) air-interface specifications
- Experience with electronics assembly and testing, including RF systems under software control
- Knowledge of low power RF hardware such as receivers, transmitters, synthesizers, and filters
- Knowledge of military and international standards for EMC, environmental, and safety aspects applicable to body-worn and vehicle installations
Domain specialisms include:
- Digital signal processing
- RF systems
- Electro-optic systems
- Medical imaging, image processing, object classification/identification
- Multi-sensor data fusion and tracking
Candidates with skills in the following Systems Engineering areas are highly desirable:
- Synthetic Environments
- Verification and Validation
- System of Systems
