Role summary

Sales Engineer – Enterprise Select

As a Sales Engineer for our Enterprise Select business, you’ll split your time across two focus areas: (1) supporting sales in winning new business and expanding existing business, and (2) contributing to the SE Team by raising the bar. You will be accountable for each technical sale, requiring strong storytelling, objection handling, custom workarounds, advanced integrations, and extensive hands-on experience to win business. Takeaways should be shared with the SE Team via meetings and messaging tools. You will also source and deliver product information, test alpha products/features, manage projects, and build scalable processes and automation for the broader SE Team. This is a remote role, with travel up to 75%, and the UK Office in London; travel to client sites UK-wide.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the value proposition of Samsara’s products and services, including the platform’s core capabilities, on-site, via webinars, or at events.
  • Facilitate live proof-of-concept trials for prospective customers, including hardware installation around vehicles and equipment, ensuring customers understand and fully utilize the Samsara platform.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and other teams to help develop the Samsara platform.
  • Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs.
  • Be organized and analytical; remove sales obstacles using creative, adaptive approaches.
  • Demonstrate comfort working in a dynamic technical organization with a fast-growing partner and customer base.
  • Remain highly available to Sales and cross-functional teams, making a measurable impact on Sales and product development in your region, and contribute to SE Team enablement.
  • Contribute to internal communications channels and share knowledge with the team.
  • Partner with account executives to plan, prepare, and execute strategic deals in complex sales cycles.
  • Discover customer processes, needs and pain points, and translate that understanding into trusted advisory guidance.
  • Match customer pain points and requirements to proposed solutions.
  • Contribute to the team with technical and industry knowledge, training, etc.
  • Champion Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as the company scales globally.

Minimum requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in customer-facing roles and 3+ years of pre-sales experience
  • Experience with Enterprise sales cycles or equivalent
  • Consistent track record selling complex solutions
  • Clinical execution of discovery through POV and technical win
  • Understanding and appreciation of value selling and MEDDICC

Ideal candidate attributes

  • Hands-on experience with customer evaluations and deployments
  • Well-versed in cloud software, IoT, networking, automation, and control systems
  • Experience with integration projects; familiarity with RESTful APIs; scripting (Python, JavaScript) a plus
  • IoT hardware, vehicles, or tinkering experience (work or hobby) a plus
  • Experience in Fleet, Logistics, Supply Chain, Telematics, Manufacturing, or operations a plus
