Job Summary:
As a
Seating Systems Engineer
within the Body and Chassis team, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of seating systems across various vehicle platforms, ensuring performance, safety, comfort, and aesthetics from concept through to production.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design and development
of interior seating systems and sub-systems for new programmes and model year actions.
Build CAD concepts, define interfaces, and manage CAD updates/releases.
Oversee developments through to component sign-off, delivering to cost, quality, weight, and timing targets. Develop and implement efficient design processes. Deliver CAD geometry and functional requirements through the Virtual Series Phase on time. Coordinate FEA/CAD/TEST activities for both in-house and outsourced development. Collaborate with AVA team to update core AVA models. Lead Evidence Based Engineering Reviews with BCE Tech Centre groups. Liaise with other Body Engineering areas, suppliers, and Programme teams for successful delivery. Maintain the Worldwide Engineering Release System and deliver APQP deliverables. Manage Change Requests, expenditure forecasting, and supplier teams. Plan and support component and vehicle test plans through to sign-off. Resolve issues with component engineering and vehicle attribute teams. Ensure compliance with Jaguar Land Rover standards throughout design maturation. Provide input into new feature development. Ensure all programme design solutions meet cost, weight, legal, and quality requirements. Keep all technical documentation up to date. Skills, Experience, and Abilities Required:
Essential:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience. Strong understanding of automotive seating system design, materials, and manufacturing processes. Experience with problem-solving techniques (e.g., 8D, 5 Why). Proficiency in DFMEA, Control Plan, Special Characteristics. Experience managing quality projects and technical/process issues. Product development/integration/manufacturing experience for seating systems. Understanding of change management processes. Experience with CAD tools, preferably 3DX - CATIA V6. Familiarity with Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, Control Plan). In-depth knowledge of 8D methodology. Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Desirable:
Automotive Engineering experience. Experience delivering sub-systems with complex technical challenges.
