Security Engineer - CCTV

Remote with travel to Watford (once/twice a month)

We have an immediate opening for a technical engineer to join our Loss Prevention IT team, with key focus on Genetec applications. Using knowledge of industry best practices, you will help to analyze, configure and deploy leading solutions to our client's global banners.

Role overview

The Loss Prevention IT Security Engineer - Senior must demonstrate the ability to balance multiple projects, products, and vendors. The position requires good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team. Candidates should stay up to date with industry trends, developments, and applicable government regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design and implementation of new access control and CCTV systems, including recommendations on hardware and software solutions
  • Install, program and configure commercial electronic security systems for enterprise systems (door access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, low voltage communication, electronic locks, point sensors, signaling devices, etc.)
  • Design, implement, and manage virtual machines (VMs) on a server infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability
  • Create, configure, and troubleshoot virtual environments across platforms like VMware, Hyper-V, or cloud-based solutions
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, subnetting, routing protocols, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls) and ability to design, configure, and troubleshoot complex networks
  • Troubleshoot new security installations to ensure proper operation and compliance with codes
  • Facilitate communication between cameras and access control systems and the Security Systems Software
  • Program and configure access control and CCTV systems, including hardware and software
  • Work with clients to understand their business requirements and develop customized solutions
  • Stay up to date with technology trends and advancements in the industry
  • Provide technical support to clients and internal teams, including training on system use
  • Develop and maintain documentation on all systems and solutions, including programming code and hardware configurations
  • Analyze potential changes and enhancements to software and hardware to assess impact on production systems, standards, and procedures
  • Collaborate with IT teams to address field issues and propose solutions
  • Proactively identify and diagnose complex problems and opportunities
  • Participate in end-to-end testing efforts
  • Contribute to knowledge transfer to support organizations
  • Operate within various project methodologies and frameworks, including waterfall and scrum/agile

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or information systems or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience installing and programming the following: Genetec Access Control
  • Installation of Security Systems Software onto a server (Genetec, Salient, Omnicast, Synergis)
  • Knowledge of configuring various Security Access Control, CCTV, and Intrusion systems
  • Genetec certifications
  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional project teams
  • Experience with compliance best practices for technology platforms
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements and priorities

Preferred / Desired Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in installing and programming related systems
  • Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile Methodologies
