Join to apply for the Security Engineer role at Bending Spoons

At Bending Spoons, we’re striving to build one of the all-time great companies. A company that serves a huge number of customers. A company where team members grow to their full potential. A company that functions at unparalleled levels of effectiveness and efficiency. A company that creates value for shareowners at an extraordinary rate. And a company that does so while adhering to high ethical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Run security audits, identifying security loopholes and opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of security strategies.
  • Perform internal vulnerability testing, uncovering any weaknesses in the systems and implementing countermeasures to ensure the integrity of all data.
  • Identify company-wide security challenges. Design and implement solutions to strengthen protection and streamline security practices across IT and infrastructure areas.
  • Collaborate closely with privacy experts to ensure the most robust and complete privacy compliance strategy possible, and to translate regulations into tech implementations.
  • Stay up to date with security trends and threats. Share knowledge with Spooners to ensure data protection best practices and help foster a security-focused culture across the company.

What we look for

  • Reasoning ability. Given the necessary knowledge, you can solve complex problems. You think from first principles, and structure your ideas sharply. You resist the influence of biases. You identify and take care of the details that matter.
  • Drive. You’re extremely ambitious in everything you do—and your initiative, effort, and tenacity match the intensity of your ambition. You feel deeply responsible for your work. You hold yourself to a high—and rising—bar.
  • Team spirit. You give generously and without the expectation of receiving in return. You support the best idea, not your idea. You’re reliable, honest, and transparent.
  • Proficiency in English. You read, write, and speak proficiently in English.

What we offer

  • Incredibly talented, entrepreneurial teams. You’ll work in small, result-oriented, autonomous teams alongside some of the brightest people in your field.
  • An exceptional opportunity for growth. We hire individuals of outstanding potential and place them in roles to thrive. Spooners in their 20s lead products worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and with what it takes, you’ll play an essential role in major projects.
  • Competitive pay and access to equity in the company. Salary ranges and equity options along with potential relocation benefits are offered to eligible candidates.
  • All. These. Benefits. Flexible hours, remote working, learning and training support, health insurance, relocation assistance, parental support, and an annual retreat.

Milan (Italy), London (UK) or remote.

The selection process

If you pass our screening, you’ll take on a few tests designed to assess how you approach unfamiliar problems. They’re challenging and may take several hours to complete. If you’re successful, you’ll be invited to a series of interviews.

We set the bar high and won’t extend an offer until we’re convinced we’ve found the right candidate. This role may stay open for months or be reposted.

Bending Spoons is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer. We consider for employment any applicant and provide reasonable accommodations for an individual with disabilities—just let us know through this form.

Before you apply

If you’ve applied before but didn’t receive an offer, we recommend waiting at least one year before applying again.

Bending Spoons is a demanding environment with a high standard. To help you ramp up quickly, we recommend spending your first months working from our Milan office, with relocation support. Afterward, you may work from Milan or London offices, or remotely from approved countries depending on the offer stage.

If the role speaks to you and you’re excited to contribute, apply now—we’d love to hear from you.
