Omega are looking for a Senior Algorithm Engineer who will be highly visible, in a strategic position, working with an incredibly capable technical team. This role is a rare opportunity for hands-on technical engineers with research and strategy influence.
Location: Bristol, On-site due to classified nature of project and workload
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual National, including British Citizenship by birth or naturalisation. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. All successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.
The opportunity:
The Senior Algorithm Engineers develop detailed guidance & control and higher architectural levels, demonstrating capability for rigorous system analysis and management of complex workloads.
You will influence the design and testing of sophisticated product systems, including algorithms, real-time architecture, RF & IR seekers, inertial sensors, actuators, propulsion systems (turbojets, ramjets, thrust-vectored rockets), and interfaces to launch platforms.
You will collaborate across departments and national boundaries, involved in multiple programmes from early research through to full-scale development and guided flight trials.
What we're looking for:
- Theoretical knowledge and extensive experience in aerospace guidance, control, navigation, algorithm design, real-time architecture, and verification.
- Ability to define engineering problems clearly and express design challenges as unambiguous requirements.
- Managing complexity by identifying major drivers in interconnected systems.
- Skills to verify complex systems and models against underlying theory.
- Clear communication of complex ideas.
- Experience diagnosing abnormalities via physical means and computer modelling (MATLAB & Simulink).
- Ability to influence technically when other factors impact teams.
- Interest in control applications, especially flight control, though not essential.
