Automation Engineer
with a strong background in Linux systems and scripting to join our infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for automating post-build configuration tasks across enterprise-grade
SLES
and
RHEL
servers, ensuring consistency, reliability, and scalability in our server deployments. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your expertise in automation and Linux administration will directly impact operational efficiency and system performance. Key Responsibilities Automate post-build tasks for SLES and RHEL servers, tailored to specific environments and geographic regions.
Configure system components including:
NFS mount points
Network settings (bonding, MTU)
Kernel tuning parameters
User limits and mail configurations
Manage user accounts and access:
Add/check users
Configure SSH keys
Monitor disk usage
Automate storage setup:
Filesystem creation on available disks
Volume Group (VG) and Logical Volume (LV) setup
Update and maintain /etc/fstab entries
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align automation with infrastructure standards and security policies.
Continuously improve automation scripts and documentation to support evolving business needs.
Required Skills & Experience Several years of hands-on experience with
Ansible
and
Python
for automation and scripting.
Strong expertise in
Linux server administration , particularly with
SLES
and
RHEL
systems.
Solid understanding of enterprise networking, storage, and system configuration.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a hybrid work environment.
Additional detail Apply deep and broad technical background and knowledge of industry trends to operate several critical or high risk technology areas/customer groups.
Integrate technical knowledge and business understanding to create superior solutions for the company and for customers.
Mentor/consult with team members, other organizations, customers, and vendors on complex issues.
Incident Management: Resolve technical and some business incidents independently.
Mentor/assist less-experienced team members on complex incidents.
Escalation Management: identify, mange, and lead escalations through L4.
Work with others to help manage escalations through L5.
Work Arrangement This role offers a
hybrid working model , with flexibility to work from either our
Erskine
or
Newcastle
