Senior/Principal Bridge Engineer – Leeds

A leading civil and structural engineering consultancy is seeking a chartered bridge engineer with at least seven years’ relevant experience for a permanent position in their Leeds office. About the Role As a chartered bridge engineer, you will play a key role in delivering bridge and multidisciplinary projects . You will work across superstructure, substructure, and articulation elements, and be involved from early-stage feasibility, surveys, and scheme design to detailed design and project delivery . You will also support business development and client liaison . Key Responsibilities: Design and manage bridges of varying materials and forms Participate in early-stage scoping, inspections, and optioneering Undertake calculations, modelling, and oversee drawing production Prepare and review specifications, contract documents, and reports Act as signatory for approvals and represent the designer on site Liaise with clients, authorities, consultants, and contractors Essential Requirements: Chartered Engineer (ICE, IStructE, or equivalent) 7+ years’ post-graduate bridge engineering experience Strong technical knowledge of bridge design Experience managing projects, finances, and teams Contract documentation and implementation experience Excellent communication skills and attention to detail Proficiency in structural analysis software and relevant UK bridge standards Desirable: Experience in multidisciplinary projects (highways, rail, water, geotechnics) Projects: Experience could include bridges across the UK and Ireland, covering major maintenance, new construction, and city infrastructure schemes .
