Overview

Senior C&I Design Engineer – Location: Warrington, Cheshire. Hours: 40 per week. Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 days in the office, 2 days from home, Monday-Friday). Rate: £55.00 - £65.00 per hour (Umbrella PAYE, inside IR35 only). Duration: 12 months + (ongoing very likely). We are looking for an experienced Senior Control & Instrumentation Design Engineer to join our team, supporting Gas projects. This role involves delivering high-quality C&I engineering and design solutions across the full project lifecycle, from concept through to commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Produce C&I design deliverables within single and multi-discipline engineering projects.
  • Support the Lead Engineer in delivering designs on time, to budget, and to the required quality.
  • Ensure designs are coordinated with other engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Process, and Automation).
  • Participate in internal and external design reviews, presenting designs to the Lead Engineer and stakeholders.
  • Provide input and support to construction, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Manage C&I engineering on individual projects or a portfolio of projects, depending on scope and complexity.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a C&I Engineer within engineering, EPCM, or EPC projects.
  • Strong knowledge of C&I engineering and design, with a good understanding of related disciplines.
  • Experience in both Electrical and Instrumentation design.
  • Proficiency with design tools such as AMTECH, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
  • Degree (BEng/MEng/MSc) in C&I Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Good understanding of current British and International Standards.
  • Experience in the energy, utilities, or gas sector preferred.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
