Our in-house design team supports projects from feasibility to tender, working with consultant design teams as needed.

In this role you will provide technical solutions, undertake feasibility evaluation/assessment for projects, and create designs and specifications for AMP8 and beyond for Water Treatment facilities. You will contribute to design and specification work for tender stages and help translate information across teams.

You will develop innovative design solutions that consider the wider context of environmental change, climate pledges, and carbon commitments. Teamwork within Capital Design and Delivery is essential, and you will demonstrate leadership, help define team goals, drive problem solving, and support the team in translating information concisely. You will deliver projects to programme and budget, maintaining quality standards, and contribute to developing the future design team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical solutions and feasibility assessments for water treatment projects.
  • Create designs and specifications for AMP8 and subsequent schemes, moving through in-house design and consultant design teams for tender.
  • Develop innovative design solutions with awareness of environmental and carbon commitments.
  • Lead and support the Capital Design and Delivery team, guiding problem solving and information processing.
  • Deliver projects to programme, within budget, and to required quality standards.

What You’ll Bring To The Role (Qualifications)

  • Degree in Civil Engineering and active membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers or working towards incorporated/chartered status.
  • Design experience with ability to prepare conceptual designs and engage with stakeholders to understand business problems.
  • Confidence to liaise with stakeholders and influence at mid- and senior leadership levels.
  • Strong internal and external stakeholder management skills and the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of people.
  • Forward-thinking, innovative mindset with the ability to anticipate challenges and adapt to change.
