An established firm of Consulting Civil and Structural Engineers with offices throughout the UK is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Civil Engineer to join its growing team in Scarborough. Founded over 50 years ago, the company has earned a strong reputation for delivering innovative and practical engineering solutions across sectors including education, commercial, residential, industrial, petrochemical, food, health, retail and energy. The firm works on a diverse portfolio ranging from small-scale developments to major multi-use schemes, emphasising technical excellence, collaborative working and outstanding client service.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development and delivery of high-quality civil engineering solutions.
- Focus on the detailed design of drainage systems, Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS), external works and paving, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, industry standards and environmental regulations.
- Prepare and submit S104, S38 and S278 packages; produce Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Impact Assessments; deliver technical reports to support planning and construction phases.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, conduct on-site assessments as required and contribute to integrated design solutions that are cost-effective and technically robust.
- Take ownership of project delivery, manage workload and monitor fees and resources, ensuring outputs meet high professional standards.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers to develop skills and maintain engineering excellence.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, stakeholders and regulatory authorities through strong communication.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience in civil engineering design, with a focus on drainage and external works.
- Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status with a recognised professional body.
- Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D and Autodesk InfoDrainage (MicroDrainage); solid understanding of current design standards and industry regulations.
- Strong leadership, project management and problem-solving abilities; capable of working independently and within a collaborative team.
- Full UK driving licence.
