OverviewBG&E is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our London office as part of a growing civil engineering team. You will work with the Civils Lead to support and grow the team, collaborating with other office disciplines and our geotechnical consultancy. The role involves varied work across infrastructure, industrial and property sectors at different design stages, with UK-focused projects and opportunities to work internationally.ResponsibilitiesManage a design team and provide guidance and mentoring to junior membersDeliver engineering services/projects across water, utilities, transport, and industrial sectorsProduce civil engineering designs in coordination with other disciplines’ teamsWork collaboratively with other consultants and colleaguesUndertake and review design calculations and specificationsCoordinate production of construction drawingsPrepare technical reports at feasibility, concept and detailed design stagesLiaise with clients and develop relationshipsApply extensive experience in civil engineering project delivery (earthworks, roads, drainage and flooding)Work on infrastructure project designsObtain necessary approvals from regulatory bodiesContribute to multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy projectsDemonstrate technical review/assurance skillsWork with 2D & 3D design software (AutoCAD, Civil3D)Use drainage design software (MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage)Apply design standards and codes of practice (e.g., foul/surface water sewers, SuDS Manual, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Manual for Streets)Apply health and safety requirements and CDM 2015Exhibit excellent verbal and written English communication skillsLead, develop and grow engineering teamsManage projects effectivelyWork with Highways Authority Sections 38/278 and Water Authority Sections 104/185Site supervision experienceApply BIM in projectsEngage with project stakeholders such as planning authorities, Environment Agency and DNOsAbout YouYou will be a key member of the BG&E Engineering team, strengthening our capabilities and supporting engineering and drafting teams.QualificationsAt least 8 years of relevant experience, ideally in an engineering consultancy or constructionExcellent time management and ability to prioritise workHigh level of attention to detailQualification to MEng level or aboveChartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalentLife at BG&EVibrant central London location (London Bridge/Bermondsey)Competitive remunerationBe part of a team of talented engineers with a unique UK market offeringClose links with BG&E offices worldwideCan‑do cultureDiversity and InclusionEquality is part of BG&E’s DNA.
