Senior Civil Engineer – Drainage & SuDS Watford £61,000 - £65,000 We’re working with a major infrastructure contractor who are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join their team in Watford. This role will see you take responsibility for the design, management, and delivery of drainage and SuDS solutions across a range of urban development and infrastructure projects. You’ll play a key part in mitigating flood risk, improving environmental quality, and driving forward sustainable solutions — all while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. The role: Lead the design and delivery of drainage and SuDS systems (attenuation ponds, swales, permeable pavements, green roofs) Carry out hydraulic/hydrological modelling and prepare drainage strategies, reports, and specifications in line with DMRB, CIRIA, and SuDS Manual Advise clients and project teams on compliance, sustainability, and best practice Integrate SuDS with highways, landscaping, and utilities Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team About you: Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related discipline Chartered Engineer (or working towards) Proven experience delivering drainage and SuDS projects Proficient with drainage modelling software (MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, ICM, or similar) Strong knowledge of UK legislation and design standards Excellent communication and project management skills What’s on offer: Competitive salary (DOE) Excellent benefits package (private healthcare, benefits portal) 26 days holiday Career progression opportunities with a leading contractor The chance to work on high-profile infrastructure projects with a focus on sustainability This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer to take the lead on SuDS and drainage design within a respected highways and infrastructure team
