Overview

A growing engineering and technology business based in High Wycombe is seeking a talented Control Systems Engineer to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic, research-driven environment developing and supporting bespoke high-tech equipment used in advanced material applications.

The role offers a broad range of responsibilities, from maintaining and developing control systems software to supporting production and contributing to R&D initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update existing PC-based software
  • Maintain and support PLC software (Mitsubishi preferred)
  • Assist in the creation of system schematics and interlock designs
  • Ensure safety and reliability of system controls
  • Create and manage documentation for all software changes
  • Provide fault-finding and technical troubleshooting support
  • Collaborate with the sales team on technical matters
  • Work alongside test and installation teams to ensure FAT documentation is up to date
  • Contribute to R&D and new product development activities

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering or science (or equivalent industry experience)
  • Experience with industrial control software and electronics
  • Familiarity with PC software development (VB.net preferred)
  • PLC programming experience (ideally Mitsubishi)
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with a proactive and positive approach

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working with scientific or technical instrumentation
  • PCB design experience
